Public Acceptance of the principal of Global warming and 20% reduction by 2020
This site believes that whilst Politicans are accepting of the need for massive energy reductions, they are hampered by the electorate. The population is still unwilling to accept the need to make changes now.
We have addressed the arguments on Climate Change elsewhere on the site.
We believe that substantial education of the public needs to be made in every area of our lives - in particular to teach that every benefit has a cost. At the very least each service offered should come with an "invoice" even if the "invoice" need not be paid. UK residents should become accustomed to recognising the great benefits they have and reminded that they all have a cost.
We believe that there is a huge need for Politicians of all political complexions to come together to find where they agree. The fear that a Govenment has of taking correct decisions that are not popular needs to be defused. The writer has regularly heard that each party wishes to move faster but is inhibited by the other party. Strong agreements need to be concluded to ensure political credit or detriment are isolated form what are without doubt urgent matters.
There is a huge need for an educational campaign - along the lines that "nothing is for free". People need to understand the slow acting dangers and the trap we face in assuming that we can continue with business as usual.
